Located between the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California, in Mariposa and Tuolumne counties.

Tip: In one of our itineraries, we landed in Los Angeles, visited the national parks in the states of Arizona, Nevada, passing through Las Vegas and going up to Yosemite.

What time to go to Yosemite?

The best time to go to the park is between may and september, the park will be open and it will be hot there.

In the summer everything is easier if it's hot you can even bathe in the river in addition to doing all the trails and camping without spending too much work.

In winter, there are times when some trails are closed, as it becomes inaccessible due to the snow.

However, it has many different activities to do in the winter: skiing on Glacier Ponit; riding a scooter among the mountains; play sky butt or float in the snow; snowmen and walking through the snow.

What to do in Yosemite National Park – USA

Tourism is very strong, with more than 4 million visitors every year. All wanting to dazzle and enjoy nature, its waterfalls, redwoods, deep valleys and giant granite peaks.

This park has been scenery of a documentary which we highly recommend "free solo”, reports a climber's attempt to climb “el capitan” (the largest granite rock in the world). You will be enchanted by this place and you will be able to dazzle the landscape.

Inside the park they have trails for hiking, with an enchanting landscape, full of birds and small animals.

Formed by the famous redwoods, trees hundreds of years old, giants in height and diameter. You will look for the top and you will not be able to see it.

It is possible to sight the valley of many places, with different lookouts. At the time we went, there was a part of the forest in formation, as almost everything burned two years ago, and the park asked us to take a photo and mark the park so that everyone could follow the growth.

Some parts of the park are in vegetative growth as it is very common in California in the summer forest fires.

Arising from lightning or even carelessness by men throwing cigarette butts or making bonfires in forbidden places.

El Capitan – The Captain

Is rock formation with its 914 meters of height, more high in the world🇧🇷 It is very common to find climbers trying to explore it from different angles.

You can see the rock from afar, because it has a white color it stands out in the middle of nature, it is a different, special place.

In its proximity, there is the river passing by and waterfalls. Depending on the time of year, some waterfalls will be without water, being possible to see only the route through the stones.

In the valley there is a waterfall 740 meters high, the highest on the continent.

Through the middle of the valley and under “el capitan” there is a trail made of wood, like a walkway. Very easy to walk and difficult Light.

Picnic

There are several places where you can have your picnic. But a special place is almost under the “el Capitan”, at the “North Pines Campground”.

There you will find tables and barbecues, parking and many animals nearby.

Another nice place to enjoy is on the riverside, however it is No fires. But it's a lovely place.

Camping

It is possible to camp in the park, however it is necessary to make your own reservation in advance and check availability according to the season.

Even people who intend to spend the day in the park or who have annual pass, need to do the reservation.

TIP: Wherever you go camping, be careful with your food and garbage, as bears can consume🇧🇷 There are bearproof bins, always pack them there and keep them closed.

How many days to stay in Yosemite?

It's good to get to know the park well and do the trails in two to three days.

As an example: we spent a day and enjoyed the center of the park, the small trails, crossed the river and had our picnic.

On another itinerary we did: we stayed overnight and did other activities. If we had stayed one more day, we would have done even more.

So it all depends on your time, the places you want to visit and the way you want to enjoy each place.

Evaluate your itinerary and make sure that staying overnight is the best option, however, enjoying a whole day in the park, you can also explore a lot!
