The legend of Lagoa do Violão
The city of Torres has many legends, involving Indians and ships that passed through the region.
But this legend of Lagoa is the most passionate and unfortunately sad.
Legend has it that a single survivor of a ship that sank on Ilha dos Lobos, reached the city floating with the help of his guitar. The daughter of the chief of the tribe was the one who found the young man and took him to the tribe.
The Indian's name was Ocarapoti (in Tupi-Guarani it means wild flower).
He was a beautiful young man and knew how to play very well, enchanting everyone who welcomed him into a tribe of local Indians, he even received a name: Puiara (the music owner).
As time passes, they fall in love.
However, according to the customs of the tribe, because he had great musical gifts, he would need to be sacrificed, transformed into a paste (derived from the ashes of his cremation) and consumed by the Indians in the form of a ritual, so that in this way, all of the tribe would also attribute their musical gifts.
And so it was done. They sacrificed the beautiful boy.
The daughter of the chief of the tribe, dissatisfied, cried for many days hugging her lover's guitar, there were so many tears that a guitar-shaped lagoon was formed: The Guitar Lagoon.
Things to do in Lagoa do Violão
It is here that you will be able to take the opportunity to rest, take a walk, ride a bike, run or even have a picnic and have a mate.
In addition to many late afternoons, being surprised by balloons.
Another activity that children love to do is sit around the pond and dazzle the turtles (tortoises).
Tip: don't feed them!
A full lap of the lagoon corresponds to 2200 meters! You can go to the square to take your children, have a mate and even take a basketball to play on the court next to the park.
