10 tips for a cheap trip to the end of the world- Ushuaia

In this post I'll give you 10 tips to make a cheap trip to the end of the world- Ushuaia that you hadn't stopped to think about yet! So go there!

One of the most asked questions by us Brazilians is how to make a cheap trip to Tierra del Fuego without spending a lot?!

But first, discover the paradise of options that Booking.com has to offer and turn your travel dreams into reality! Making your reservations through our link you will be helping us and you won’t pay anything extra for it 🙂

booking.com is our trusted website, we made all our reservations through them and now you can also make purchases from airline tickets!

Tip 1 - Travel in low season It will make the trip much cheaper.

Searching for the low season period is a sure shot to save! You will find promotional packages for hotels, air travel and tour guides. The low season in Patagonia is in summer, which for us will still be quite cold.

And for that you will need our next tip!

Tip 2 - Plan ahead

very important that you know what period of your vacation to make this trip.

You will likely run into difficulties if you decide to make the trip at the last minute. Do not leave to the last minute! It will be much more expensive!

Airfare will be more expensive, hotels are more crowded and you will probably exchange your real for a lower value, even though our currency is worth more, food there is very expensive. Then: schedule yourself!

Tip 3 - lightning promotions can significantly reduce the cost of the trip.

Tip 4 – Make a spreadsheet

Use Excel or download an application, as you prefer!

Putting in each tab: travel expenses, hotel, car rental, gas, food, park tickets, currency exchange, expenses with gifts that you will want to bring to your friends and family.

I'm going to introduce you to a spreadsheet template that we like to use. I hope it helps you!

Put projections like: if you stay 6 days, 15 days, 10 days. Evaluate how much you can extrapolate from the projection and during the trip know what you can save.

Tip 5 – Prefer to stay in hotels with in-room kitchens

This tip is valuable, you will save a lot on food. Restaurants are expensive there and making your own food has its perks.

Go shopping at a supermarket, buy your beer or a good wine and have fun.

Make sandwiches and take water for your long walks, have coffee in the middle of the trails.

We always carry a backpack, one not too big so as not to carry too much weight. To climb the mountains, we took water that came out of the middle of the glaciers, very crystal clear and cold!

Tip 6 - create your itinerary

By creating your itinerary you would not waste time during your trip researching what to do and where to go, schedule your day! Take free tours: such as trails, city walks, museums and parks.

We did all the Glacial trails without a guide. The trails are well demarcated in addition to maps informing the direction and the point where you are.

It's even more fun to follow the adventures through your curiosity and bravery!

Tip 7 - Social networks

Follow on social networks people who have already been there, as an example we <3, exchange ideas, ask where they stayed, if there was a tour that was not worth it and go defining your tour with more tranquility and imagining yourself in the place that want to be!

Tip 8 - Review the main tourist attractions

cheap travel

Find out the main tourist attractions you want to visit and if you need to pay an entrance fee.

If the price is too exorbitant, you can search for packages with the local tourist companies, often cheaper. Thus making the trip cheaper.

Tip 9Exchange

Exchange your money in Buenos Aires, it will be cheaper, the currency is the Argentine peso. You will have the possibility to exchange with travelers who are in the place and want reais. In the city of Ushuaia it is more difficult and will be expensive. Prefer to exchange reais x pesos, don't take dollars as it will probably be more expensive.

Ushuaia is a super small city, so don't worry about wanting to rent a car or pay a taxi, do your activities walking! Bring good sneakers and enjoy! We stayed in a hotel that was 5 blocks from the center and we had no difficulties to make our routes.

Programming is super important when the main subject is saving! So get ready in advance and have a lot of fun on your vacation.
