Belvedere

Mandatory crossing point in Campos do Jordão, the Belvedere is the first tourist point when arriving in the city. Located on SP 123 just before the portal, the place offers a beautiful view of the Lageado Valley.

The Belvedere in Campos do Jordão is a place where people find great synchrony with nature.

During the winter it is common to see coatis approaching very close to the visitors to receive food. The sunset at the Belvedere is a spectacle in itself.

At the end of the afternoon, the mountains in the distance hide the last rays of the sun in a wonderful show of colors.

Of great historical importance for the city, the Campos do Jordão Railroad was born, at the beginning of the last century, from the need to take people who suffered from respiratory diseases to cure, in the favorable climate of the mountains of Campos.

Today the Road is a tourist alternative to discover the beauties of Serra da Mantiqueira. Its characteristic obeys an architecture that has remained unchanged since 1910, the year of its construction, forming a harmonious set, typical of the railways of the past.

From Campos do Jordão, it is possible to take a tour of the main towns of the city: Capivari, Jaguaribe and Abernéssia, in a 4 km route.

The ride takes place through the urban cable car (known as shrimp), a friendly and charming English-style machine, which provides the opportunity to enjoy images from an exclusive point of view, between the two main and most tree-lined avenues in Campos.

It is located at Avenida Roberto Simonsen, in the neighborhood of Vila Inglesa, on the road to Vila Capivari. In addition to the waterfalls, the tourist will find stalls with craft products and souvenirs.

The artificial showers were formed by damming the waters of Ribeirão das Perdizes. The channeling of the waterfall forms a set of water jets that delight visitors, who can use wooden platforms to reach the showers and take cold, healthy baths.

In the past, guests of the old and famous Pensão Inglesa used to bathe in this place. At the entrance to Ducha de Prata, there is a bustling shop where handicrafts, sweets and souvenirs can be purchased.

Gruta dos Creoles

Located on one of the paths that lead to Pedra do Baú, Gruta dos Crioulos was named after a legend, which says that its caves housed escaped slaves from farms during the time of slavery. 

There are stories and legends that the Cave acquired this denomination, because the slaves who escaped from farms in the neighboring regions took refuge in it to escape the fury of the captains of the bush, and were led by Manoel Crioulo through the lands that were owned by Mr.

Cicero Prado. However, at the time of slavery, the cave was an almost inaccessible place, requiring a true odyssey through a rustic path opened in the forest, known as the old path of the gold mines, which connected the south of Minas to the ports of São Sebastião and Paraty.

Capivari Park

Capivari Park offers a wide range of leisure options for adults and children. Its main attractions are the cable car, the lake with pedal boats, the amusement park, the little train of joy and chalets that sell knitwear and handcrafted products.

Pedra do Baú

With an altitude of 1,950 meters, Complexo do Baú is a huge rock formation that makes up one of the main postcards of Campos do Jordão. 

Even without practicing any of the extreme sports present there, a simple climb to Bauzinho or to Pedra do Baú itself and see the world as far as the eye can see, is already worth it!

Cable car

One of the favorite attractions for children is the cable car that runs between Vila Capivari and the top of Morro do Elefante. The chairs are individual, maintaining a distance of 10 m between each one.

The cable car has the capacity to transport up to 600 people per hour.

From the top of Morro do Elefante, at an altitude of 1,700 m, the user has a dazzling view of the city, while having a restaurant installed in the Belvedere and horses for rent.

Vila Capivari

Main commercial center of the city, concentrating a wide variety of stores, restaurants, snack bars and knitwear. Tourists from all over circulate through its streets, squares and malls, especially on weekends.

The German architectural style predominates. The climate and environment make people feel like they are in Europe. One of the pleasures of Vila Capivari is to sit at one of its outdoor bars, have a drink and enjoy the beautiful landscape and the movement of people on the street.

In the vicinity of the shopping center are: the Miniférico, which takes you to Morro do Elefante; a lake, where children can ride a pedal boat; a small amusement park; the Urbano cable car station; horses and buggies for hire.

How to go to Campos do Jordão – São Paulo

The main access to Campos do Jordão is the SP-123, which starts at the junction of the Carvalho Pinto / Ayrton Senna Highway, at km 118 of the Presidente Dutra Highway.

This junction is in the sub-district of Quiririm, between Taubaté and Caçapava. The SP-123 can also be accessed via municipal roads leaving Roseira, SP-62 (km 82 of Rodovia Presidente Dutra), or crossing the city of Pindamonhangaba (km 98 of Rodovia Presidente Dutra).

As an alternative route, the SP-50 is a tourist attraction, crossing beautiful rural areas, typical villages of the mountain region and the city of Monteiro Lobato. This road has a junction with the SP-42, which connects it to the Estancia de São Bento do Sapucaí (SP) and to the south of Minas Gerais (via MG-295).

The MG-295 has a junction with Rodovia Fernão Dias, in the city of Pouso Alegre (MG).

When to go Campos do Jordão – São Paulo

Campos do Jordão is a city to be visit all year round, the cold is the main attraction, and it is in the winter season that the city receives the greatest number of visitors.

However, in summer and during long weekends, demand is also high. In addition to the greater movement, prices are always higher in the winter season (period from April to August).

In summer, the rainy and hot season, prices drop significantly, and hotels and inns even offer discounts of up to 40%: it is the ideal time for those who want to visit Campos do Jordão on a budget.
