Anticipating that it was difficult to make this filter of the places we camped and that we really want you to be able to know them, because each place is incredible and unique!

There are numerous national and state parks in the USA. The vast majority with the possibility of camping, however due to Covid-19 there are parks that have suspended camping.

In this article, we've researched all the state websites and all the rules during this pandemic period and made it all available in one place.

Where to camp in the United States – top 5

Zion National Park

Located in Utah County, at a distance of 259 km from Las Vegas.

Where to camp in the United States

Camps:

Watchman Campground: Bookings from March to November 2021.

It has toilets, drinking water and picnic tables.

Value $30.00 per night.

South Campground: Reservations from March 15 to October 31, 2021.

In this place there are no bathrooms, people will have to walk almost 1km to the other camping site: watchman.

Value $20.00 per night.

Park notice: the National Pak Service recommends avoiding contact with water from the North Fork of the Virgin River, as a result of a proliferation of toxic cyanobacteria.

Within the park there is a transfer service, through buses, as well as in Bryce and all are free!

Bryce Canyon National Park

Located in Garfield County on a reservation in the southern state of Utah, at a distance of 420 km from Las Vegas and 400 km from salt lake city, capital of Utah.

Camps:

North Campground: camps in order of arrival.

Value: between $20 to $30

Sunset Campground: available from April to October, with reservations for high season.

Value: between $20 to $30

Sunset Campground Group Venue: Large group venue that can accommodate up to 30 people with a sliding scale of fees: $55 to $100.

bathrooms are available at various locations throughout the park during 24 hours and at the Visitor Center 8am to 8pm.

Inside the park there is a transfer service, through buses, as well as in Zion and all are free!

Where to camp in the United States – top 3

Grand Canyon National Park

Located in the state of Arizona, spanning 446 km of the Colorado River. It's an amazing park!

At a distance of 406 km from Las Vegas and 780 km from Los Angeles.

Tip: The South Bank is the most visited, especially during summer from March to November 30 the camps are crowded. It is recommended to make a reservation in advance through the park's website this link.

Camps:

Mather Campground – South Rim:

There are some changes for the 2021 season. This camp has restrooms and electrical connections.

Value $30 per night

Trailer Village RV Park – South Rim:

This camp is single for trailers inside the park with complete connections (sewage, water and electricity).

Values vary between $60 to $70 per night.

 In 2021 Opening hours:
The registration kiosk is currently open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Normal hours of operation are:

  • January 1st – March 22nd: 8am – 5pm
  • March 23 – October 21: 7am – 9pm.
  • October 22nd – December 31st: 8am – 5pm

For guests arriving after the registration kiosk is closed: Your reservation details or information for searching for vacancies will be posted on the door.

Ocala National Park

Located in the state of Florida. This park is very beautiful and is used as a backyard by the Americans, as it has a natural swimming pool, a delight to enjoy the hot days and have a picnic.

At a distance of 490 km from Miami and 127 km from Orlando.

Campsites:

Juniper Springs Campground: It is right in the center of the forest, local most visited in the park.

It has restrooms, barbecues and is close to the park's grocery store.

Tip: We consider it the best camping choice.

Value: $ 28 per night with a maximum occupancy of 5 people.

alexander springs

Value: $28 per night with a maximum occupancy of 5 people.

clearwater lake: Located southeast of Ocala, it is next to a lake.

Value: $25 per night with a maximum occupancy of 5 people.

buck lake: This camp is for groups of up to 50 people, it is located on the shore of the Buck Lake River.

Value: $75 per night.

Tip: There are more other camping sites, however. without so many attractiveness. Those mentioned are most wanted it's the Juniper Springs Campground is in the heart of the park.

There are canoeing activities, however they are suspended due to Covid-19 security measures.

IMPORTANT: Flash Flood Bulletin It is an orientation in cases of heavy rain, which can cause flooding. Rivers can rise quickly and overflow. So if the waters are rising, go to higher places and follow the directions of the people in the park.

Yosemite National Park

Located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California, 269 km from San Francisco.

Covid-19: as a result of the virus, the park has some restrictions: requests for advance reservations for campsites, public showers are not available and neither is group camping (avoiding crowds).

  • Upper Pines: open year round

Value: $26 per night.

  • Lower Pines: Open from April 19th to October 25th

Value: $ 26 per night

  • North Pines: Open April 15 to October 25

Price: 26 per night

Southern Yosemite Valley

  • Wawona: open from June 15th to October 25th

Value: $26 per night

  • Bridalveil Creek: Open July 15th to September 6th

Value: $26 per night

North Yosemite Valley

Hodgdon Meadow, Crane Flat, Tamarack Flat, Yosemite Creek and Porcupine Flat are closed in the year 2021.

  • Tuolimne Meadows: Open June 21st to September 20th

Value: $ 26 per night.

Weather emergencies: campgrounds may close on short notice when the National Weather Service reports.

  • Winds of over 30 mph
  • More than 30 centimeters of snow in 24 hours.

Alerts in effect: fire restrictions

At certain times of the year, national and state parks are on alert for possible fires that may occur, due to several factors: lack of rain, lightning, bonfires, cigarettes, among other causes.

Monday, July 5, 2021 – Grand Canyon National Park is under Stage 2 fire restrictions: NO firewood/charcoal – NO SMOKING outside. Visit the link for details. Neighboring Kaibab National Forest under FULL CLOSURE. However, as of this update, SR 67 (N. Rim) and SR 64/US 180 (S. Rim) remain open to provide access to Grand Canyon National Park.

Tips for what to take on your camping trip:

In the USA, it is very common to roast marshmelows on the fire and enjoy the noise of nature.

Then do not forget in purchase skewers are available for sale in supermarkets or in $1 stores and can be made of wood or metal.

tent: sand you want to buy a tent for camping, it's a great idea, but we already camp in the car, in a minivan and we bought only: pillows, blanket and inflatable mattress. It was a very affordable price and we were able to bring it home.

But of course a tent is perfect!

Food: buy canned goods, there are countless for $1 or even $0.70, it's very cheap! It has beans, rice, meat… And you can warm it up on your fire. An advantage: will not spoil!

We bought a pot kit with plates and forks, at Walmart, we paid $14. It was our best investment, we used it a lot!

Map: At the entrance to each park you will receive a map with the demarcations and all the information about the park, read the guidelines and find your way around.
