Visit the capital of the United States: Washington DC, the city is full of history, full of museums and this is where the White House is located!
Known as Washington, DC?? or (hello) meaning: District of Columbia and became a nickname for the region (dii-cii).
What's in Washington
Located in the Northwest of the United States, this is where the entire political summit is located, the power and all decisions (of the country and the world) are decided here.
In addition to being the capital of the country, the city has a lot of history, imposing neoclassical buildings, emblematic museums and attracts tourists from all over the world.
Let’s share here what to “tourist” in the city:
US White House
For tourists, who like us, love to record in imposing places, here, without a doubt, is the best place, considered a mandatory stop!
the address of White House is: 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW in Washington, D.C.
Tip: take public transport to get to the place, as there is no parking nearby.
Remembering that even so, it is not possible to get very close, many prefer to go on foot or by bicycle.
the capitol
This is the home of the US National Congress, inside are the representatives of the Senate and House.
The official address to go to the Capitol is US Capital.
The building is undoubtedly beautiful, with a beautiful garden, a gigantic reflecting pool and in its architecture it is characterized by the large Dome, right in the center of the building, higher up the Statue of Liberty (not the one in NY).
It is possible to know the interior of the building with a guided tour (free). If you want to know, the ideal is to schedule the visit through the site in advance, because on the day it is very difficult to get a time.
US Supreme Court
As the name suggests, this is where the state has supreme legal authority, is also known as the Supreme Court of States.
Address: 1 First St NE, Washington, DC 20543.
The building has impeccable architecture, with giant columns that resemble a Greek temple. Right in front of a sentence “equality before the law” (Equal justice under law).
It is possible to take a guided tour of the interior of the building.
National Mall
National Park in Washington enchants everyone who is in the city, full of a beautiful green area (depending on the season, full of cherry blossoms) it is in its surroundings that are the three powers (already mentioned above) and several museums and historical monuments.
Washington DC Museums
Below I will list (some) of the museums that are possible to visit with tickets free:
National Gallery of Art
For art lovers, the building enchants with its neoclassical style upon arrival.
There are several paintings, sculptures, engravings, drawings, photographs and objects.
National Museum of Natural History
This is one of the most beloved museums by tourists, because it has a collection divided by: animals, ecosystem, fossil history, human diversity and terrestrial sciences.
National Museum of American History
With different themes, in different interactive ways, the museum tells the main historical facts of the USA.
Smithsonian Institution – The Castle
Known as “the castle” it is home to the largest museum complex in the world.
This is where the crypt of James Smith (scientist who donated his fortune for the creation of the institute) is located.
The space is for visitors and also serves as an administrative center, in its garden is where the most beautiful attraction is.
National Museum of African Art
Museum all focused on African art, with all its collection dedicated to the culture of Africa, with instruments, clothing, jewelry, photographs, sculptures and much more.
National Air and Space Museum
Particularly, it is my favorite tour of American museums, getting to know the space world with its stories and with beautiful displays of spaceships, aircraft and even flight simulators.
