What to do in Sao Jose do Norte?
Rich in culture, the city has beautiful mansions and old buildings in its historic center and a strong presence of Portuguese culture.
Igreja Matriz de São José do Norte
The Church is centuries old! In 1832, the cornerstone of the Matrix was laid, and its inauguration took place in 1860 by Father Francisco Rodrigues.
Molhes da Barra - São José do Norte
Entrance of the lagoon to the sea, a mega engineering work with millions of tons of stones to fix the channel.
From SJN, head to Barra and then go along a path that is not signposted, where you should go along the edge of the lagoon and along small trails, you will be able to park your car and continue walking.
It is interesting to go up on the jetties to see the sea on the other side with strong waves. The location provides beautiful scenery for sunset photos.
Praia do Mar Grosso
In addition to the natural attractions, Balneário do Mar Grosso is also popular for water sports such as surfing.
Because it has bigger waves, and the sea is more agitated, you need to be careful when entering the sea!
Its proximity to the jetties must also be considered.
Barra Lighthouse
It is not possible to access the lighthouse, enter it, but you can see it from afar. It's worth the visit.
