The peninsula was discovered by foreigners and is famous for visiting celebrities such as Mick Jagger, Catherine Deneuve, Brigitte Bardot, Monica Belluci, Francis Ford Coppola and even the French player Zinedine Zidane. In Búzios, you will find French, Italian, Spanish, American residents, as well as many Argentines.

To enjoy the beaches, you can take a boat trip from Porto Veleiro. The tour lasts 2h30, including stops for diving. Or take the tour on an open bus that circulates around the city and lasts 2 hours. Rua das Pedras is the main and most charming shopping street in the city, as well as the street behind it, Manoel Turíbio de Farias.

Azedinha – Búzios – RJ

Very small and isolated, it is accessible by a short trail from Azeda. Indicated for those who want peace in the middle of transparent waters.

Surrounded by inns, the beach is always busy due to the good structure of restaurants mounted on decks. The captive audience is made up of foreigners – mostly Argentinians – who find sunbeds scattered around the bars and on the sand.

Praia do Forno – Búzios – RJ

Small and semi-wild, it is full of natural pools next to the rocky shores.

Ossos Beach – Búzios – RJ

The cove has a bucolic setting, framed by colorful boats and the church of Sant'Ana, built in 1740. From there, the trail leads to the paradisiacal beaches Azeda and Azedinha.

How to go

Inns and hotels offer transfer services to Búzios directly from the airport or from your hotel in Rio de Janeiro.

Prices vary according to the inn and can be obtained at the time of your reservation.

They are usually divided into transfers in luxury cars with air conditioning at the rate of R$ 120.00 per person and in vans or minibuses at the rate of R$ 70.00 per person. (Average prices including round trip, from Rio de Janeiro).

When to go

The charm and beaches of Búzios can be enjoyed all year round. To have a good time, go in the summer and on holidays, when the movement is intense – be prepared, however, for traffic jams and competition for parking spaces around Rua das Pedras.

In winter, the icy waters may not be as inviting, but to compensate, the resort hosts a popular jazz and blues festival. 

In summer, the city is very busy. For those who enjoy peace and quiet, it is best to go after the month of March, when the temperature is milder and the city is calmer.

Búzios is a true paradise for food lovers. French, Italian, Thai and other restaurants serve their delicacies to the most demanding palates.

The reason for this diversity is the number of foreigners who came to spend a few days in the city, fell in love and stayed here. From outside, they brought their spices and secrets.

The flagship of the local cuisine are the fish and seafood. After all, Búzios has its origins in a fishing village and is surrounded by beaches on all sides.

Búzios has a hot semi-arid microclimate, unique to southeastern Brazil, despite being located in a humid tropical coastal lowland, whose maximum and minimum temperatures are much more extreme. 

The average annual temperature is 25°C, the average maximum reaches 29°C in summer and 24°C in winter, with an absolute maximum of 36°C.

Transport

It is 176 kilometers from Rio along BR-101 to Rio Bonito and, from there, via Via Lagos. You can rent a car to make the journey or even use a shuttle. Many agencies sell this route. Use a car to get to the center, but from there, walk through the cobbled streets.

THE Rua das Pedras it is the best place for shopping.

The street has a wide variety of shops, art galleries, handicrafts and a wide variety of restaurants.

Tips to enjoy Búzios

Nothing better than a late afternoon in Búzios to enjoy the sunset. The suggestion is to stop by one of the charming bars that Búzios has to offer.

A good alternative is to go to the Porto da Barra, a new gastronomic space that works on a wooden deck between the beach and a beautiful mangrove. There, bars and restaurants spread out in a pleasant place to go day or night.

The suggestion there is the pioneer Fisherman's Bar, from where you can enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets in Búzios.
