Fernando de Noronha is undoubtedly a dream for most travelers. The island has the most beautiful beaches in Brazil and is a famous international diving spot.

Noronha is a National Park managed by IBAMA. Everything is inspected and at the airport you will fill out a form, pay the daily environmental protection fee and leave through a single door after presenting the receipt.

There are many beaches to be visited and each one with a specific beauty. They are divided into Mar de Dentro and Mar de Fora. The beaches do not offer restaurants and stalls with caipirinhas and fried squid, on the contrary, everything on the island is very simple.

And that's what makes Fernando de Noronha such a heavenly place. Nightlife is all about forró at the bar and the restaurants close at 10 pm.

Dolphin Bay

You can get there by boat or trail. It is the best place to observe spinner dolphins. The morning period is the most indicated, and if possible take binoculars.

Dive

Autonomous diving, with cylinders and free diving (apnea). There are three local companies for scuba diving, offering two basic types: underwater baptism and dives aimed at people with previous experience.

Boat ride

Several boats, with an average capacity of 20 passengers, offer daily trips departing at 2:00 pm from the Port of Santo Antônio, heading to the secondary islands, Ponta da Sapata, passing by Baía dos Golfinhos with a stop at Baía do Sancho for bathing and diving .

The return takes place at 17:30h.

Beaches in Fernando de Noronha

Sancho beach

This is one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil. Also known as the honeymoon beach. The beach is protected by a huge cliff 50 meters high.

Access is only possible via a ladder in the crevice of the cliff, with just over 100 steps. Spend at least half a day to visit it. From there you can even take a trail to the bay of pigs, if the tide is low, do it, because the view is wonderful and no city tour takes you there.

Don't forget to bring water, snorkel and sunscreen.

From January to July, the beach is banned at night, as it is a nesting place for sea turtles.

Praia do Leão

As it is a nesting area for sea turtles, visits are controlled during the reproduction period.

During low tide several natural pools appear. Going down to the reefs is currently prohibited, but the scenery is worth the trip.

Bay of Pigs

Small bay, next to Sancho beach, opposite Morro dos Dois Irmãos. It has natural pools and a beautiful view of the two hills.

It's a huge natural pool for free diving. Check with IBAMA for opening hours.

It is generally open for visitation, with a maximum of 100 people per day (groups of 25 people), starting at 7am, staying until 8am. However, hours vary.

Praia do Cachorro, Praia do Meio, Praia da Conceição, Bodró, Cacimba do Padre, Boldo, Americano, Air France, Caieira, Buraco da Raquel and Porto.

When to Go to Fernando de Noronha

The dry season runs from September to March, the rainy season from April to August, and the rainy season is characterized by rapid rains.

During the summer (January to February) the Mar de Dentro has stronger waves, in winter the situation reverses, leaving the Mar de Fora with the most agitated waters.

The archipelago is 1 hour ahead of Brasilia time.

Where to stay in Fernando de Noronha

There are several options for inns, most of which are family homes. But there are also inns that offer a pool and are better structured.

Good options for couples are Morena, Solar dos Ventos, Dolphin, Zé Maria and Pousada Maravilha.

Restaurants on the island close early, around 10 pm. Restaurant tips:

  • Tubarão Museum – Located in the port of Noronha. Order the coxinha or the tubalhau fritter and enjoy the view.

Weather in Fernando de Noronha

There are two predominant seasons: the dry season, which lasts from September to February, and the rainy season, with occasional precipitation, from March to August. The temperature has little variation during the year, maintaining an average of 28ºC, with lots of sun and a refreshing breeze.

Transportation in Fernando de Noronha

To get around the island, the best option is to rent a buggy. The value varies between R$ 90 and R$ 100 reais per day. Another alternative is to enjoy the beautiful landscapes seen on the many trails in Fernando de Noronha on foot.

Shopping in Fernando de Noronha

For those who love to bring a souvenir from their trip, most craft and souvenir shops are located in Porto de Santo Antônio. There are also shopping options in the villages of Trinta, dos Remédios and Floresta Nova, in addition to the feirinha set up at the Tourist Terminal.

Tips to enjoy Fernando de Noronha even more

  • Gastronomic Festival at Pousada Zé Maria – it is a festival of delicious food. It is held every Wednesday and Saturday, including a hearty table of food and dessert. But make a reservation at least one day before, as it is very popular and places are limited.
  • Sunset – of course, the view of the sunset could not be missing. The best place to see it is from Forte do Boldró.
  • Noronha is an island known worldwide for its wonderful diving spots. Baptize with a local business.
