O Institute of the Environment of Santa Catarina – MAGNET, releases reports informing the situation of the beaches.
On August 31, 2023, a report was published, below I will inform the situation as provided by the Institute.
How is the classification of suitable and unsuitable water for bathing in SC
The classification is carried out with sample collection, and analyzed according to CONAMA resolution nº 274/2000.
Analysis to consider water suitable for bath:
When in 80% or more than one set of samples collected in the previous 5 weeks, in the same location there is a maximum of 800 Escherichia coli per 100 milliliters.
Analysis to consider water unfit for bath:
When in more than 20% of a set of samples collected in the last 5 previous weeks, in the same place, it is superior to 800 Escherichia coli per 100 milliliters or when, in the last collection, the result is superior to 2000 Escherichia coli per 100 milliliters.
Which SC beaches are unsuitable for swimming?
Of the 237 analysis points, 116 were unfit for bathing, there are entire beaches without conditions for bathing, unfortunately.
