RS-389, also known as Estrada do Mar or Rodovia Nelson Gonçalves, is a Brazilian highway in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, which connects the municipalities of Osório to Torres.
In 2019, the state governor changed the name of RS-389 to be called: Nelson Gonçalves, in honor of the singer from Rio Grande do Sul and considered one of the biggest names in MPB.
The Sea Road was inaugurated in 1990, being one of the best alternatives that connected the coast, thus reducing the large flow on BR-10. After the duplication of BR-101, traffic on Estrada do Mar decreased.

Tips for traveling along the Estrada do Mar
If you still don't know Estrada do Mar, first know that it is single track.
No Trespassing in places that are not allowed and when in doubt, do not cross!
One of the main reasons for accidents on the RS-389 is improper overtaking. Every year fatal accidents happen.
watch out for speeding🇧🇷 That's because the maximum speed allowed is 80km/h, and most drivers don't respect it. What ends up happening is having police with speedometers and issuing fines for excess.
If you have the option of driving on the BR-101, it is safer, as it has more shoulders (in case you need to stop) the permitted speed is 110km/h and the lane is double.
On Estrada do Mar there are few places to stop, if you have a bathroom emergency (for example) you will have difficulties.
fuel your car🇧🇷 Along the way, there are only two gas stations, one at the very beginning of the road, Posto Maravilha in Torres and the other in Arroio do Sal, Posto Petrobrás (km 60).
Traffic in heavy vehicles (trucks) is prohibited, only with authorization.
