El Gordo Trancoso
If there's one place in Bahia that we love, without a doubt, it's trancoso… beautiful beaches, colorful houses, incredible parties and a charm that conquers anyone. Trancoso is a very popular city in the summer, its New Year's Eve is one of the best in Brazil but it never loses that rustic air, hippie, and its energy which is very good.
Trancoso has several super charming inns and one of the ones that won my heart and today is my favorite is the El Gordo, in fact, considered one of the best in the resort as well.
Location:
O El Gordo It has an excellent location, right in the middle of the Square, which is the heart of Trancoso and where everything happens… the best restaurants and shops are there and the entrance to the inn is right in front of this photo, close to the little church in town. In addition, it is also just a 10-minute walk from the beaches of Nativos and Coqueiros.
El Gordo alone would have won me over because I am simply in love with the Quadrado with several cute shops and craft fairs, not to mention the bucolic landscape of the little church with the sea at its back.
Hostel and Amenities:
El Gordo has a rustic style in its decoration but is extremely comfortable, not to mention that it has excellent service both in the inn and in the restaurant that is open to the public.
In fact, I already talked about the El Gordo's restaurant here on the blog, in the post with restaurant tips in Trancoso, and he is one of my favorites!! Even if you're not staying at the inn, it's really worth visiting the restaurant, which is fantastic. It has a mix of Brazilian, Portuguese and Asian cuisine that blend together super well.
The inn also offers a bar and swimming pool, as well as relaxing massage services!!
I'm one of those travelers who rarely use the hotel, I really like to spend the day on the street but I confess that in the seven days I stayed there, I really enjoyed this pool, the lymphatic drainage (which is great!!) and the restaurant, so cozy is this place!
The breakfast is simple compared to the quality of the inn but very tasty… I'm not the person who eats best in the morning, if you have cheese bread and orange juice any breakfast will be perfect, lol but besides that they still had some types of breads, fruits, cold cuts, cakes and juices.
The rooms:
El Gordo is a small inn and has 12 rooms being that only 5 have sea viewTherefore, when making your reservation, don't forget to ask for one facing the sea, and those below the pool are the most isolated and have the best view. I stayed in room number 8, well below the pool on the right side and which had a view of the sea from the balcony and I thought it was great, large room, super comfortable, with a double bed and two extra single beds, fully equipped with TV, Sky, air conditioning, hairdryer and fridge. It follows the rustic decor of the inn but is very charming.
The inn has wifi in the pool and restaurant areas but not in the rooms!
Undoubtedly, the guesthouse El Gordo exceeded my expectations in terms of comfort, services and attention to guests and I would definitely stay there again on my next visit to Trancoso.
