Fort Zachary Taylor Beach

This is the busiest beach on the island! Located at south of Key West, the beach is located within a natural park: Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park, the park was built during the American Civil War and served as a place to defend the population from pirate ships that could arrive on the island, which is why there are buildings on the seafront, making the view even more beautiful.

The sunset here is one of the most beautiful and perfect on the island, because the scenery really helps to make it special! The cool thing is that you can enjoy the beach until late, as the water is very warm 🙂

Ideal for snorkeling and spotting marine life. Its waters are transparent, making visibility at the bottom of the sea easy. Furthermore, the entire beach is surrounded by palm trees, making it even more of a paradisiacal place (even though it is just a minute away from the city center).

Located right at the end of the main street in Key West: to Duval Street. Getting to the beach is no problem, but finding a place on the sand becomes a little complicated.

This is because the beach is easily accessible and close to shops, bars and restaurants, making it more accessible to enjoy the whole day close to whatever you need. But of course, if you want to save money, take your snack (as buying it in the restaurants around the beach is much more expensive).

If you don't have problems with it being busy and a lot of people, it's a great, super popular beach:) it has crystal clear waters and shallow water, making it calmer for swimming. Next to the beach there is a concrete pier, a cool place to take photos.

South Beach Key West Beach

Smathers Beach

It is the largest beach in Key West, almost 1km long (half a mile). This beach has a characteristic unlike any other, your sand, very white and thin, because much of it It was brought from the Caribbean.

The advantage of this beach is because it is so big and has great infrastructure, here you will be able to find everything you need to spend a delicious day at the beach! From parking (free) to picnic tables, bike paths, restrooms, chair rentals, volleyball nets, windsurfing, jet skiing and paragliding.

Smathers Beach

The beach is approximately 1 mile from Mallory Square and can be reached on foot or by bike in less than 15 minutes.

Higg's Beach

Another popular beach, with a range of activities, from sunbathing to water sports. Along the shore you can find some kiosks to eat something, or rent equipment for diving or rowing.

This beach has a historical difference, it has a fishing pier and monuments that document a 19th century African slave cemetery.
