Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway Arrives at Disney World Resort

Disney's Hollywood Studios gets the first Mickey and Minnie attraction to host a tour of the world of cartoons

 Escape through the Wild West, splash down a waterfall and escape an erupting volcano – all in the same day! As of March 4, 2020, the new attraction Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway will take visitors from Walt Disney World Resort for an unprecedented experience, full of unexpected and fun situations. Inspired by Mickey Mouse animations, the tour features an original story created for the whole family in the legendary Chinese Theater of Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway it is a milestone in the couple's history, after all, it is the first attraction that has the characters as protagonists. But their presence is nothing new on the big screen because since Mickey Mouse first appeared in the classic “Steamboat Willie” (1928), the world of entertainment has changed forever.

In history, the couple Mickey and Minnie ride in a classic red convertible in search of the perfect place for a romantic picnic. What they didn't expect is that fellow Pluto was also on board! Disney magic invites visitors to step through the movie screen and enter the animated universe, with the clumsy Goofy at the helm of a large train. On this journey, anything can happen!

Adventure in every detail

So that the new attraction could transport visitors to the world of cartoons, the Walt Disney Imagineering team delved into an intense research process, absorbing details from every episode of the new “Mickey Mouse” animated series. The main objective was to convey the elements of the drawings in a realistic and authentic way, using the latest technology.

The adventure was developed to provide a unique experience for each visitor, with different details depending on the vehicle they are traveling in and where they are seated at each moment. According to Kevin Rafferty, Executive Creative Director of Walt Disney Imagineering, the attraction is so immersive and rich that it's impossible to capture everything that happens just once: the reality of fantasy”.

Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway combines classic Disney attraction design with innovation, transforming the two-dimensional cartoon universe into a fun and vibrant environment. Hyper-realistic backdrops, Audio-Animatronics figures, projection techniques and much more – all in one railless ride. The soundtrack is also completely new: the song “Nothing Can Stop Us Now” adds even more rhythm to this race, honoring the Disney legacy of storytelling in an unforgettable way.

In addition, the attraction features more hidden Mickey figures in the world. Pay attention to every detail and get ready for an adventure never seen before. Nothing can stop them on this escape full of surprises!
