How is a day at the Ballooning Park in Torres – RS

Is it your first time here in Ballooning? I'm sure you'll be enchanted and want to come back every year. In this article I will share with you what a day at the balloon park is like, just to emphasize that I already have 100 more days in this place that I love! Let's go!?

Balloon Park in Torres

The park is quite large, below you can check the area, I made an approximate marking. The lawn part is the place where the balloons make their landings or takeoffs and presentations like the night glow.

The part where a pavilion appears, is where the food court is located. On the day of the event, the city hall sets up several other stands, such as the stage for the show, the stands in the area of commerce, handicrafts, family farming, the press, even an amusement park is set up on site.

Weather Forecast: Ballooning

First of all, the whole event depends on the “guy upstairs”, with rain and wind: nothing happens! We've had ballooning without a balloon, because either it was rain or it was very windy.

But I confess that it's better to pay to see than to wait for the weather, because it has already happened to have a terrible weather forecast and arrive on the day of the event, everything is perfect!!!

Wake up at 5 am on ballooning day

The first thing that defines our going to the park early in the morning, is the weather check, at 5 am it is already possible to have an idea of how the day will be: with sun, rain or wind.

If it's raining, the event is cancelled, if it's windy early, it's also cancelled, but if everything is ok: then prepare your chimarrão!!!

What is the Briefing that balloonists do before the tests?

Before all the tests, all the pilots get together to check the possible starting and finishing points, the types of tests and the possibility of flying.

We will only know what will really happen after they decide.

And how did we find out?!

Through social networks (Torres City Hall) or through local radio stations: Maristela 106.1 FM or Atlântico Sul 94.7 FM.

A day at the Ballooning Park in Torres – RS

After all the meteorological analysis, with everything right, now yes, time to go to the park!

What time to arrive at the balloon park in Torres?

The ideal is to go with your chimarrão around 7 am, choose a good place and wait for the show! Balloons take around 40 min to 1 hour to do the tests.

An important point is to know that not all tests take place in the park. That's why the advantage of listening to the radio or looking at social networks, usually from 6 am you'll already know the whole schedule for the day.

In the year 2022, there were always balloons that took off from the park or landed there.

But I anticipate that the really beautiful thing is to follow everything up close!

All the places where the tests take place are close to the park, it will take you around 15 minutes to reach the venues. The good thing is to anticipate, because everyone wants to go see it and it arrives at a certain moment when there is a lot of congestion.

Tip: if you are bicycle, is a perfect option!

What to do in the park after the balloon trials?

Exams are over, now what?! Only 9 am!

The park has several shops, local crafts, presentations in the cultural tent, food court and even lectures. How about interacting?!

My initial tip is to have a delicious coffee in the park, if you have children, enjoy the amusement park and keep an eye on the schedule.

I confess that I can't stay the whole day in the park. Enjoy and go downtown, enjoy the beach 🏖 because in April there are usually very hot days and you can get a tan.

Don't forget to check the schedule, as from 4 pm another briefing (balloonists' meeting) will take place to find out if there will be afternoon tests, what tests they will be and where they will take place.

So let's go to the park again!

What to do at the balloon park at night?

During the night there are national and local shows, in addition to the food court that you can enjoy as a family, go to the amusement park, handicraft stores and general commerce, tents selling products from family farming and much more.
