But weather stations cannot measure temperatures everywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Estacao_Vostok_Antartica\"><\/span><strong>Antarctic Vostok Station<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Part of the South Pole of the Cold, an area in the southern hemisphere with the lowest surface temperatures on record, the Vostok research station was established by the Soviet Union in 1957. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"585\" height=\"389\" src=\"https:\/\/wenttrip.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/estacao-vostok.jpg\" alt=\"Antarctic Vostok Station\" class=\"wp-image-8830\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wenttrip.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/estacao-vostok.jpg 585w, https:\/\/wenttrip.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/estacao-vostok-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 585px) 100vw, 585px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>Antarctic Vostok Station<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Thermometers here reached a low of -89.2\u00b0C in July 1983, the lowest air temperature ever recorded directly.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#039;s also one of the driest places on Earth, receiving around 20 millimeters of precipitation a year, all of it snow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Denali_%E2%80%93_Alasca_%E2%80%93_Estados_Unidos_da_America\"><\/span><strong>Denali \u2013 Alaska \u2013 United States of America<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Denali, formerly known as Mount McKinley, is the highest peak in North America at over 6,000 meters above sea level.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With an average temperature of around -10\u00b0C, only half of the people who try to climb this mountain make it to the peak. Between 1950 and 1969, a weather station reached a temperature of around -73\u00b0C, but wind chills can reach -83.4\u00b0C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Yakutsk_%E2%80%93_Russia\"><\/span><strong>Yakutsk \u2013 Russia<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Yakutsk<\/strong> it is one of the coldest cities in the world, with mercury dropping as low as -42 \u00b0C. It reported its lowest temperature in February 1987 at -64.39 \u00b0C.<br>The city is the capital of the province of Sakha, located in the northeastern part of Russia. This means that Yakutsk is situated on the southernmost border of the Northern Hemisphere, where the land is covered by continuous permafrost or glacial ice.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Founded in 1632 by the Cossacks, the city was originally called Lensky Prison or Yakutsk Prison.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The distance between the Russian capital Moscow and Yakutsk is 8468 km. The city is mainly connected by the Lena highway.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yakutsk is also home to several theaters, museums and old Soviet-era houses.
