There&#039;s a dizzying array of things to do in New York, and it&#039;s a place everyone should see at least once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And sure, <strong>Times Square<\/strong> it&#039;s a tourist trap worth taking in at least once\u2026 just for the experience, but it&#039;s really just the beginning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While we&#039;ve all seen New York in countless movies, TV shows, and travel guides, the best things to do in New York and cool places to visit are probably not the first places that come to mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>So if you&#039;re looking for unique places to visit in New York, I&#039;ve got the list for you!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Aqui_estao_dez_lugares_unicos_para_visitar_em_Nova_York_que_definitivamente_nao_sao_Times_Square\"><\/span>Here are ten unique places to visit in NYC (which are definitely not Times Square).<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Grand_Central_Station\"><\/span>Grand Central Station<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 1871, Grand Central Station has been the gateway to the city. You will feel like you are reliving the golden age of train travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just stopping in NYC for a quick minute? You might want to stay at the TWA Hotel located across the street from JFK!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Edificio_Empire_State\"><\/span>Empire State Building<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, on every list of fun things to do in NYC you will see this iconic building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Built between 1930 and 1931, the <strong>Empire State Building<\/strong> has 102 floors and is famous for being the <strong>skyscraper<\/strong> highest in Midtown Manhattan.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:#7bdcb5\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Curiosity<\/mark>: Builders were in a mad rush to create the world&#039;s tallest skyscraper - the Chrysler Building &quot;almost&quot; beat them, but once the Empire State Building was completed at 1,250 feet, it was the tallest building in the world by nearly 40 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wenttrip.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/empire-state-building-6858030_960_720.jpg\" alt=\"Empire State Building\" class=\"wp-image-13357\" width=\"645\" height=\"430\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wenttrip.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/empire-state-building-6858030_960_720.jpg 960w, https:\/\/wenttrip.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/empire-state-building-6858030_960_720-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wenttrip.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/empire-state-building-6858030_960_720-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 645px) 100vw, 645px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Empire State Building<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Construction sites on the site of the former Waldorf-Astoria hotel (the current Waldorf Astoria New York was built on Park Avenue in 1931).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Little_Italy_e_Chinatown\"><\/span>Little Italy and Chinatown <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>These are two of my favorite neighborhoods, and luckily they&#039;re right next to each other!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plan at least one day just to walk around and see where the day takes you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every time I explore New York, I find the random little spots I stumble across <strong>Little Italy and Chinatown <\/strong>are as memorable as the world-class Broadway shows and chic restaurants of Manhattan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wenttrip.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/chinatown-em-nova-york_02-1600x800-1-1024x512.jpg\" alt=\"Chinatown\" class=\"wp-image-5305\" width=\"620\" height=\"310\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wenttrip.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/chinatown-em-nova-york_02-1600x800-1-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/wenttrip.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/chinatown-em-nova-york_02-1600x800-1-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wenttrip.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/chinatown-em-nova-york_02-1600x800-1-768x384.jpg 768w, https:\/\/wenttrip.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/chinatown-em-nova-york_02-1600x800-1-1536x768.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/wenttrip.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/chinatown-em-nova-york_02-1600x800-1.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Chinatown<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And, of course, you can&#039;t talk about Little Italy or Chinatown without mentioning the food. While the best places to eat in NYC are scattered throughout the city, these two districts are uninterrupted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Whether you&#039;re looking for the best dim sum in NYC or the best pizza in NYC \u2013 you&#039;ll find some of the best options in these neighborhoods!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Claustros_do_Met\"><\/span>Met Cloisters<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wenttrip.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/1666379008_240_10-lugares-para-visitar-em-Nova-York-que-nao-sao.jpg\" alt=\"Met Cloisters\" width=\"496\" height=\"354\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Met Cloisters<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Located on a high hill at the northern tip of Manhattan it&#039;s a really fun surprise\u2026 walk along a winding tree-lined path for breathtaking views of the Hudson River and you&#039;ll find the Met&#039;s second location: The Met Cloisters!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inspired by the Middle Ages, the cloisters are a perfect place to reflect and recharge. Here, you will really feel like you went back in time! This is a very unique location in the US as you won&#039;t find a combination of medieval European architecture, stunning gardens or these works of art anywhere else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>While The Met is often at the top of many NYC travel plans, be sure to add The Met Cloisters to your itinerary as well.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Fort Tryon Park museum has an impressive array of Romanesque and Gothic art and architecture worth exploring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Vila_Greenwich\"><\/span>greenwich village<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to fun things to do in NYC, it&#039;s hard to beat Greenwich Village. Known for its winding streets, beautiful hidden alleys and mom and dad restaurants, Greenwich is one of the coolest villages in New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just walking the streets of this eclectic Manhattan neighborhood is a unique experience. If walls could talk, this century-old capital of Bohemia would have the biggest story you&#039;ve ever heard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>And don&#039;t forget to come hungry! Greenwich Village is one of the great gastronomic capitals of the country. It takes about 30 minutes to walk the whole thing and it&#039;s open year round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This peaceful space is a perfect oasis to get away from it all.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Old City Hall subway station, opened in 1904<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Antiga_prefeitura\"><\/span>old town hall<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Built between 1803 and 1812, New York City Hall is the oldest city hall in the United States that still stands! While not New York City&#039;s first town hall \u2013 it was built in the 17th century and NYC was then called New Amsterdam) \u2013 this structure was demolished in 1790.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wenttrip.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/1666379010_993_10-lugares-para-visitar-em-Nova-York-que-nao-sao.jpg\" style=\"width: 400px;\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the building is beautiful \u2013 especially the exterior, it&#039;s really the surrounding landscape\u2026 and the basement that impresses me the most! City Hall Park and its many flowers provide a fabulous respite from bustling Manhattan, and the subway station is where it is!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wenttrip.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/1666379010_357_10-lugares-para-visitar-em-Nova-York-que-nao-sao.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"420\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Located directly under City Hall Park is the former City Hall subway station, which opened in 1904.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This station is a bit *extra* as it was designed to be a sample of the new metro system. It features Guastavino tiles, skylights, colored glass tiles and brass chandeliers. Talk about bougie!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Although it has been closed for a while, I recommend checking out the Old City Hall station tour when it opens again.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a deeper dive underground (and an unusual but cool thing to do in New York), check out the New York Transit Museum in Brooklyn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bonus\"><\/span>Bonus<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Restricting it to just the top ten things to do in NYC, I had to leave countless amazing points out of this NYC guide.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:#fcf400\" class=\"has-inline-color\">If I could leave you with two extra pieces of advice, I&#039;d say always check the Broadway schedule! There&#039;s always something great!<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And, in my opinion, the <strong>Statue of Liberty<\/strong> is best experienced from afar.
